With English medium education system, the department, which admitted the first undergraduate students in 1998-1999, offers students common engineering courses; as well as compulsory and elective courses in the fields of yarn, weaving, knitting, non-woven, dyeing, finishing, ready-made garments, textile machinery, and technical textiles. In addition to the classrooms, 7 laboratories and training centres operate in the faculty with12 faculty members.
The department admitted its first graduate students in the academic year of 2000-2001. In 2011, the Joint Graduate Program with Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University was implemented and a doctoral program was launched. Students of the Textile Engineering department receive a double major with mechanical engineering, industrial engineering departments; and it has minor programs with the mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, economics, and business management departments. The Socrates and Erasmus Program implemented in our department offers our students and lecturers the opportunity to share information at an international level at universities in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Our department aims to train socially responsible, innovative, collaborative, and idealistic engineers.
